Slip on a banana suit for a world record
Leukaemia
Research is looking for a bunch of bananas keen to take on a quirky
running challenge! You can help Leukaemia Research set an
ap-peeling new world record and raise funds by running dressed as a
banana at this year's Run to the Beat half marathon in London on 27
September.
To get the bananas into the record books, at least 250 banana-suited runners are required to complete a 13-mile run and pledge to raise as much as you can each for Leukaemia Research. To become a world record banana, all you need to do to sign up for a Big Banana Record Place is click here
Leukaemia Research is the official charity for Run to the Beat. This half marathon starts and finishes at the O2, with live music along the way. Runners will be able to influence the music played by logging onto www.runtothebeat.co.uk/music and vote for their favourite genre - choosing from urban, pop, rock and dance. The most popular genres will be played at certain points around the course on the day by live bands and DJs.
Dragon' s Den star and South London resident Levi Roots attended the Run to the Beat launch for Leukaemia Research in February. Speaking about the event, Levi says: "Music is always important - in sport and in business. I used music to slay those dragons on the TV and make Reggae Reggae Sauce a success. Run to the Beat puts music into a half marathon and it'll be immense for South London."
Run to the Beat proved very popular in 2008. Leukaemia Research had 3,500 runners take part and who raised a staggering £400,000. We expect our Big Banana Record Places will be speedily snapped up.
